Moolre has officially launched the Moolre Startup Cup 2026, a four-month national buildathon designed to empower entrepreneurs, developers, students, and startup teams to create innovative digital solutions using Moolre's financial infrastructure.
With a total prize pool of GHS 245,000 across 20 award categories, the Startup Cup aims to identify and support builders creating practical solutions that address real challenges in payments, commerce, financial services, and digital inclusion across Ghana.
Participants will build products using Moolre's suite of APIs, including Collections, Disbursements, SMS, and USSD, enabling teams to develop real-world applications that serve businesses and consumers across the country.
"The future of Ghana's digital economy will be built by people who can identify problems and create solutions that work at scale," said Yusif Ya-Adzagey, Managing Director of Moolre. "The Startup Cup is our way of supporting that future by providing builders with the tools, platform, visibility, and incentives to bring their ideas to life."
The competition is open to teams across Ghana, from solo founders and student innovators to existing startups looking to build and showcase new solutions. Registration officially opened on June 1, 2026.
The competition will follow a four-stage process:
Registration and team formation.
Product development using Moolre APIs.
Project and pitch submission.
Public voting, live pitches, and final judging.
Following the submission period, public voting will help determine the Top 10 finalists who will advance to live pitch sessions before a panel of technology leaders, entrepreneurs, and industry experts. Final winners will be announced at the Startup Cup Grand Finale.
In addition to the main prizes, participants will compete for ten special awards recognizing innovation, user experience, social impact, AI implementation, fintech innovation, and other standout achievements.
The Startup Cup is being delivered in partnership with Brif, DevCongress, Code and Cocktails, Kweku Tech, and Building Bytes, combining technology, storytelling, and community engagement to spotlight the individuals building Ghana's next digital solutions.
