It takes months and months, sometimes years, chasing investors all the time — and founders don't even know if the investors they're chasing are genuinely interested." Davis Boabeng — Swife
Every day, Ghanaian businesses and families do the same tedious thing: open MTN MoMo, send a transfer. Open Telecel Cash, send another. Open the banking app for the next. One person at a time, however many people they owe. Davis Boabeng grew up watching his mother, a businesswoman in Ghana's informal economy, go through exactly that ritual to pay employees, suppliers, and issue customer refunds. That stress became Swife: a bulk payments platform where you upload a list of recipients, and Swife verifies every name, detects every network, and pays everyone — across MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AT Money and every Ghanaian bank — in a single click. In this episode of Storyblocs, Davis takes us inside the build: the name-verification layer that checks every recipient before a cedi moves, the USSD rail that reaches people without smartphones, and the ambition to make Swife a household name in how Ghana moves money.
